Colors Urban Hotel Thessaloniki Review

Travel can be exciting, but also exhausting. Which is why your choice of hotel can be the success or ruin of your trip. And for my quick trip to Thessaloniki in October, I wanted a hotel located close to the Max Mara event I was invited to, yet charming and friendly. My friends suggested COLORS Urban Hotel and I was not disappointed at all!

Colours Urban Hotel Copper Room

Somebody must have noticed I have coppery hair for my room was called the “Copper Room”. Very fitting, don’t you think?

Travelling Colors

The COLORS Urban Hotel is a modern, 4-star boutique hotel in the centre of Thessaloniki. It’s one of the three COLORS hotels in the city. It has 26 rooms, each one uniquely decorated and very stylish. Its small size makes it feel more like a home than a hotel.

I arrived after a short flight from Athens, but as I was recovering from a cold, I felt nevertheless exhausted. So you can imagine how grateful I was for the hotel’s massage service! The COLORS Urban hotel has a lovely spa centre, called “Massage.Me”. It’s a calming oasis after the hustle and bustle of airports. And the ladies who run it are so polite and friendly! I was welcomed with a herbal tea and the massage that followed it was the best thing for this weary traveller. I slept like a baby that night!

Quiet in the city

Now you might think, as I did, that a hotel in the middle of a city can be noisy. However, COLORS Urban was remarkably quiet! Maybe it was the double glazed windows. Whatever the reason, I slept very peacefully those two nights, even though I had a room with a view to a main street. But said window also offered a lovely peak at the sea, which was just a couple of blocks away.

A sweet little welcome gift, in the form of a fortune cookie

My room was spacious and comfortable, with a huge double bed and even a small leather sofa to relax on. There was adequate room for my clothes (it was a short trip, but I had a few extras for the event). I stayed at the 5th floor and I just couldn’t get enough of the large windows with glorious views to the city and the sea! Oh and there were also slippers and bathrobes!

In addition, the COLORS Urban is very eco-friendly. This was one of the reasons I chose it after all. In fact, all the toiletries in the bathroom are fair trade and environmentally friendly too.

A Colorful Bar In The Garden

Any colourful hotel such as this couldn’t have a restaurant any less colourful, right? The GARDEN Bar is a fun, welcoming place, a great spot to have your breakfast, evening cocktail or the amazing lunch time buffet (just 12€, all-you-can-eat). I made use of the latter every day actually. Great quality local produce, lots of healthier options and delicious sweets too. Oh and did I mention it’s right across the street from the Jewish Museum? Food and culture, what more could you ask for?

A hotel is its people

I would be lying if I told you that the staff of COLORS Urban was nothing short of amazing. So friendly and welcoming people, a real joy to talk to and very helpful as well.

I greatly enjoyed my stay at COLORS Urban Hotel in Thessaloniki. It’s the perfect place for affordable luxury in one of Greece’s most vibrant and colourful (pun intended) cities. My only regret is that I didn’t stay longer!

Disclaimer: My stay was complimentary of the hotel, but all opinions are my own
